Yoann Lemoine also known as Woodkid was Originally famed for being a music video director who has worked with the likes of Yelle, Moby, Mystery Jets, Katy Perry, Lana Del Rey, and a video for Drake and Rhianna is now preparing himself to release his debut LP following critical acclaim for his Run Boy Run EP which came out in May this year.
His directorial style oozes creativity, outstanding cinematography and his music doesn’t falter either as you will see from listening to the below tracks Run Boy Run (Featured in a recent Nike advertisement) and Iron (uses as the advertisement music for the latest Assassins Creed game). There is also a Mystery Jets remix of Iron for good measure.
The French native’s musical style is hard to confine to a single genre and like many artists of recent years is better described as an experimental musician. At times his vocal qualities can be compared to that of Hercules and Love Affair and his fondness for emotive musical sounds-capes is apparent in the majority of his work. His ability to fuse the audible and visual senses into a cohesive creative package is awe inspiring.
The Golden Age, Woodkid’s debut album is expected in the first quarter of 2013, watch this space.
