The countdown is over; the most anticipated event in Bristol’s party calendar is back with a vengeance. I am, like so many others, sat cooing over my laptop as that old familiar website stares back at me with it’s new shiny announcements. My phone goes. ’It’s big.’ ‘What do you think?!’ ‘May as well get student finance to send my loan directly to Motion’.

At just 3 years of age, Motion Bristol’s musical lovechild ‘In:Motion’ has earned nationwide respect, faithful fans and a seriously impressive list of artists previously unencountered in the South West. It seems all the hard work has come to fruition once again as they return with their best line up yet. The talent season intertwines home-grown party powerhouses Just Jack, Shit the Bed and Futureboogie with the infamous Bugged Out, Resident Advisor and Cocoon along with some pretty special live acts ready to rinse your bank accounts this winter.

Who better to kick off proceedings than 2011’s ‘best DJ in the world’ Jamie Jones, presented by Bristol’s most recently unstoppable party people Just Jack. Expect funfair frolics and a few sexy surprises alongside the usual showcase of the best in house, this time including Dyed Soundorom, Dan Ghenacia and Todd Edwards. Not settling for just one show-stopper, they are back the following month for one of their notoriously fun Halloween parties with Josh Wink, Ryan Crosson and even more surprises.

The season brings an unparalleled host of legends to Bristol, including one of the most important acts in hip-hop history, the incredible Public Enemy who will bring their huge personalities, tunes and 25th anniversary tour to Motion. Techno God Sven Vath and the not only brilliant but hilarious house personality Seth Troxler are set to play the warehouse all night, whilst mega-headliner Fatboy Slim sits slyly at the end of the announced dates.

With last year’s ‘Hessle Audio’ night a huge success it’s no surprise they had the boys return, this time bringing with them one of the most celebrated DJ’s in recent years. Four Tet tops the bill of the best in bass locked grooves. The entire line up brings too much talent to name, with legends Kerri Chandler and Moodymann for Futureboogie, Tokyo Dub’s Lee Scratch Perry and Mala, Annie Mac presenting Magnetic Man and Disclosure, along with Hospitality holding the fort with their usual crew. Head honcho of one of the most innovative and forward thinking house labels around, it is only right that Claude Von Stroke brings Dirtybird to Motion along with Justin Martin and Motion favourite Eats Everything.

In:Motion shines the torch for Bristol’s thriving underground music scene. Priding themselves on presenting the best in underground talent they crown it all with some legendary and incindiary artists. Motion ended last year’s staggering musical series with a string of sold out shows every weekend and on paper, this year is set to be even better. It is onwards and upwards for the South West’s most exciting party season and you should probably grab your tickets, (all of them) as soon as possible. It’d be rude not to.
