The Warehouse Project 2012 Opening Weekend Revealed!

Manchester is sadly one of those unfortunate places that has a grey landscape of bad weather and dreary looking buildings. I always think this when flying back from a holiday, from above, Manchester does not look like an exciting place… but you should never judge a book by it’s cover! Inside some of the most basic exteriors and down some of the backest of alleys (if thats even a saying) you come across some of the most amazing venues and events in the UK.

The famous 12 weeks of the year are back to bring some autumn sunshine into our noons, and maybe into our days too, with the hint of some day parties to come. The Warehouse Project is starting again, and this time it’s teasing us with just 2 dates off the calendar. How mean! Friday 28th September and Saturday 29th will see an array of worldwide DJ’s come to the Trafford Park location that was opened in Easter. Fingers at the ready because once you’ve seen the line-ups, you will want to book at least one!

Friday night is the official launch night for WHP which is hosting the Rinse 18th Birthday party! I’m not sure if it will be banners and balloons, but it definitely will be a celebration of some of the best and biggest Dubstep, Drum and Bass and Grime artists around at the moment. Katy B, Skream and Diplo are headlining the event with Boy Better Know, Kode 9, Plastician and Artwork on the bill to stir things up some more. Roska, Jamie George, Loefah and Pearson Sound are some of the lighter choices, if perhaps you are watching the waistline. But don’t be fooled, low fat products only make you want more and this is one fattening line up!

Saturday swings by nicely for some, but for those brave enough to go to both events.. it might not be so easy! Nicolas Jaar makes a welcomed surprise appearance at the top of the list, headlining the event with Seth Troxler, Maceo Plex, Four Tet, Maya Jane Coles and Heidi… Who are playing an exclusive b2b set which is extremely exciting, will be interesting to see how they play together. Ben Klock, Julio Bashmore, Soul Clap and Scuba who are all big beef in my eyes will be playing alongside the lions. Joy Orbision and Jackmaster will be playing b2b, and who can forget, The Warehouse Project residents Krysko and Greg Lord… They will make sure the party is pumping right from the start.

An eclectic choice of DJ’s for the opening weekend, lots of variety and fun. The organisers have certainly played with the line up’s to bring Manchester something different and quite interesting. I can’t wait to see what cocktail these combinations make when they all combine in a musical combustion!

The full season of Warehouse Project’s events will be announced on Wednesday 25th July at 9am, but until then, get your tickets for both events here!
