The most artistic that the majority of us have got with sand is to build a sandcastle at the beach on holiday as a child, but when in the right hands, sand can be a fantastic material for creating interesting works of art. These artists can achieve realistic 3D shapes using the sand, and an extremely controlled hand is needed at all times, as a collapse could be catastrophic. Below we have compiled some of the most skilled artists who use sand as their creative material of choice. I hope the majority of these did not meet the fate of my sandcastles, and get washed away by the sea.
KingSand



KingSand is a group made up of three sand sculpting experts. Dan Glover, Jeroen Meijer and Martijn Rijerse. They have created some of these most amazing works ever created using sand andd water and have won numerous competitions around the world. KingSand have also produced artworks using snow and ice.

Kseniya Simonova won Ukraines Got Talent, the Ukrainian version of the popular hit shows, Britains Got Talent and Americas Got Talent. Helena Bangert is a Latvian artist is known for her more modern and avant garde works. She studied at the Rietveld Art Academy in Amsterdam. The first time she thought of using sand as a creative tool was when a retirement home for elderly seamen located in a small Dutch coastal village invited to create a sculpture for an exhibition.

The man known as Amazing Walt is from Texas. He is the grand-daddy of sand art and has produced hundreds of works dating back to the mid 80s. He has produced works in countries all over the world and has even been featured on Oprah Winfrey.

Michel Lepire is a sculptor from Quebec who has been working with sand since 1996, he is the organizer of one of the most popular sand sculpting competitions in the world Les Internationaux de sculpture sur sable de Quebec is held every August in Quebec City.
