The Worlds Best Sand Art

The most artistic that the majority of us have got with sand is to build a sandcastle at the beach on holiday as a child, but when in the right hands, sand can be a fantastic material for creating interesting works of art. These artists can achieve realistic 3D shapes using the sand, and an extremely controlled hand is needed at all times, as a collapse could be catastrophic.  Below we have compiled some of the most skilled artists who use sand as their creative material of choice. I hope the majority of these did not meet the fate of my sandcastles, and get washed away by the sea.

KingSand

KingSand is a group made up of three sand sculpting experts. Dan Glover, Jeroen Meijer and Martijn Rijerse. They have created some of these most amazing works ever created using sand andd water and have won numerous competitions around the world.  KingSand have also produced artworks using snow and ice.

Jim Denevan

Jim Denevan does all his art works free hand with nothing but a low tide, inspiration and a stick. When this is taken into account, these artworks are truely amazing.

Kseniya Simonova

Kseniya Simonova won Ukraines Got Talent, the Ukrainian version of the popular hit shows, Britains Got Talent and Americas Got Talent. Kseniya uses sand art to tell a story, creating the art in front of the audience and telling a tale through an ever changing story accompanied by music. She has won world wide acclaim for her work.

Team Sandtastic is lead by Mark Mason, they are a group of talented sculptors who work with only sand and water to create amazing artworks. Team Sandtastic has massive international clients such as American Express, Walt Disney, Jeep, and Delta.

Helena Bangert

Helena Bangert is a Latvian artist is known for her more modern and avant garde works. She studied at the Rietveld Art Academy in Amsterdam. The first time she thought of using sand as a creative tool was when a retirement home for elderly seamen located in a small Dutch coastal village invited to create a sculpture for an exhibition.

Amazing Walter

The man known as Amazing Walt is from Texas. He is the grand-daddy of sand art and has produced hundreds of works dating back to the mid 80s. He has produced works in countries all over the world and has even been featured on Oprah Winfrey.

Michel Lepire

Michel Lepire is a sculptor from Quebec who has been working with sand since 1996, he is the organizer of one of the most popular sand sculpting competitions in the world Les Internationaux de sculpture sur sable de Quebec is held every August in Quebec City.

Sandsational

Sandsational are a group of professional sculptors who have backgrounds in areas like art, design and performance. Sandsational often creates sand sculptures for promotional purposes and has worked with brands like McDonalds and Harley Davidson.

Ilana Yahav

Ilana Yahav is another artist who uses the sand to produce a changing artwork which dictates a story. She has developed a large online following and has produced some amazing works.
